Is overpopulation the problem?

In Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, the conclusion is: We need less people.

But do we really?

There is research - and who knows if it‘s true - suggesting that people actually enliven the planet. Or at least they can. Some forms of agriculture make that explicitly true.

We think if we vanish, nature can flourish. But this is the fundamental flaw in our thinking. There is no nature apart from us. We are it. And just like we are part of it, we need to find ways to life with it. Just like we find ways to life with our family - in a respectful way that, best case, let‘s everyone flourish. It‘s not just co-creating with people, but co-creating with nature as well.
